In the original 1982 Sci-Fi movie classic, Blade Runner, set in futuristic Los Angeles 37 years ahead of its making (2019 Los Angeles), a scene transpires between an android-human hybrid called a replicant (foreseeing the integration of AI and humans and the distorted and ignorant attempt at extending the life of the body indefinitely) and his Creator. The replicant, Roy, coming to the end of his life span, is obsessed with finding his Creator, a scientific genius named Tyrell. Sneaking his way into the “Creator’s Home”, Roy is finally able to confront the creative genius playing God, Mr. Tyrell, with the most profound and seminal questions and exclaim:,

“It’s not often that one gets to meet their Maker.” Moments later a deeper demand comes, “I want more life, Father!”

This scene brilliantly portrays man’s fear of death and quest for immortal life. The very search for an answer and the ensuing dilemma stems from mis-identification.

Most humans think they are the mortal body frame, made up of flesh and bones.

The great saints and sages, however, have found this “more life”. In India, the sages call it Atman or the true Self- which is eternal. The Self has no disease, difficulty or death, nor was it ever born, the sages tell us. It is eternally here and now, they say, while pointing us fearlessly towards our true Home of everlasting peace and bliss.

It is left to each of us, to find the Self, to find God always present as the living Beingness animating all life. There is no reason to search, since there is nothing else but God, the true Self.

We must only be sincere, want Truth more than the objects and things of the world. Clarity is then restored. We burn away the veil or delusion which covers up our direct perception of Self, or oneness with God. There is nothing more important than That.
